In a moment, a year’s worth of work will be played out in just 3 minutes. Backstage at the Atelier Lannaux, I’m trying to say it all in one thirtieth of a second. The fashion design students are staking their entire year on this show, throwing their models out onto the catwalk like dice. Some will win, some won’t. I slip between the girls and the fabrics, the hopes and the fears, and pick up, like static electricity, this incredible creative energy.
Dans un instant, une année de travail va se jouer en trois minutes. Dans les coulisses de l’Atelier Lannaux, j’essaie, moi, de tout dire en un trentième de seconde. Les étudiants en stylisme misent leur année sur ce défilé, lançant leurs mannequins sur le catwalk comme on y jetterait des dés. Certains vont gagner, d’autre pas. Je glisse entre les filles et les étoffes, les peurs et les espoirs et je capte, comme de l’électricité statique, cette extraordinaire énergie créatrice.
