I have spent part of the night on the phone with my Lebanese friends. Not a single window pane intact in Beirut, within a radius of 30 kilometres; they shattered as far as Cyprus. The media, this morning, is way off the mark: the number of injured is in the tens of thousands, transported to all hospitals across a country already weakened by the economic and healthcare crisis. The apocalyptic explosion, much too enormous to be caused by a bomb, and following a fire, is due to a Hezbollah ammunition and explosives stock. This depot should never have been located in the urban port zone. Yet again, Hezbollah ! The Shia Islamist militia, responsible for the dilapidation of Lebanon, armed wing of Syria, protecting the looters of the most beautiful country of the Middle East, forbidding all reforms and blocking all foreign aid, is responsible for this destruction of the city of Beirut. My thoughts are with Karyn, Billy, Monique, Jean-Paul and all the men and women of Lebanon as I pray that this cataclysm will wake the international community, beginning with France.
Je viens de passer une partie de la nuit au téléphone avec mes amis libanais. Plus une seule vitre intacte à Beyrouth, dans un rayon de trente kilomètres ; jusqu’à Chypre, elles ont volé en éclats. Les médias, ce matin, sont loin du compte : les blessés se comptent par dizaines de milliers, transportés dans tous les hôpitaux du pays déjà affaiblis par la crise économique et sanitaire. L’explosion apocalyptique, bien trop importante pour qu’il s’agisse d’une bombe, est celle, suite à un incendie, du dépôt de munitions et de substances explosives du Hezbollah. Ce dépôt n’aurait jamais dû se situer en zone portuaire urbaine. Le Hezbollah, encore ! La milice islamiste chiite, responsable du délabrement du Liban, protectrice du régime corrompu, bras armé de la Syrie qui protège les pillards du plus beau pays du Moyen-Orient, interdit toute réforme et bloque toute aide extérieure, est responsable de cette destruction de la ville de Beyrouth. Je pense à Karyn, Billy, Monique, Jean-Paul, à toutes les Libanaises et tous les Libanais, et prie pour que ce cataclysme réveille la communauté internationale, à commencer par la France.
