In 1999, the German photojournalist Thomas Höpler declared : Today’s visually over-stimulated world, this avalanche of stimulation, we created it ourselves through the magazines. We seem to think that more is better when it comes to getting noticed. Except that now, this just doesn’t work anymore. We’ve reached a limit. In fact, the only real way to respond would be : let’s start from the beginning and go back to the simple observation of everyday life.

Pour être remarqué aujourd’hui, on croit toujours devoir en faire plus. Seulement voilà, ça ne marche plus. Nous sommes arrivés à une frontière. En fait, la seule véritable réponse serait : on repart à zéro, on revient à la simple observation de la réalité quotidienne ».
