Brussels, around 1973. I had received a Kodak Instamatic 133 for my 12th birthday. I immediately began photographing my world. And I haven’t stopped since. This photo, probably one of my first, was taken in my brother Gurval’s bedroom. He must be about 16 or 17 years old and is posing in front of his beloved stereo, which he seems ready to defend rifle in hand.
Bruxelles, vers 1973. J’ai reçu, pour mon douzième anniversaire, un appareil Kodak Instamatic 133. Aussitôt, j’ai commencé à photographier le monde qui m’entourait. Je n’ai plus arrêté depuis. Cette photo-ci, sans doute l’une de mes premières, a été prise dans la chambre de mon frère Gurval. Il doit avoir seize ou dix-sept ans et pose devant sa chaîne stéréo qu’il adore et semble prêt à défendre les armes à la main.
